Home Office & Guest Room In-One

by Towne Home Furnishings

So you don’t have all the space you desire. What you lack in room, you make up for in economy. If space constraints mean a multifunctional room—such as the all-too-common home office/guest room—maximize it by taking a minimalist approach to design and make your office space work twice as hard for you and your guests.
Tips for maximizing your multifunctional space:
Lighter and brighter. To make a multifunctional space feel more open and less crowded, start by “opening up” the walls with a light, bright paint or soft neutral shade.

Crisp, clean lines. Nothing streamlines the look of a room like clean-lined, straightforward furniture with no muss and no fuss.

Work a major modernist look with sleek, linear furniture in a chic and crisp white. You can still enjoy the homier touch of rustic finished furniture, just keep the lines clean and lean. This desk’s return can be placed on left or right for maximum flexibility, depending on room layout.
Plenty of zzzs. When it comes to home office/guest room bedding, you’ve got quite a few options.Love vintage? A daybed loaded with pillows can double as a quaint seating area and a comfy bed. One with storage underneath comes in especially handy.

Going for less is more? Try a flip-flop sofa/futon on for size. Nothing like that beast of a futon you might have had in your dorm or first apartment, these sleek little numbers are a cinch to adjust.

You could invest in a wall-mounted Murphy bed, but given how they’re heavily bolted in place, they’re quite a commitment. And once you pull them down, you don’t tend to want to fold them back up every morning.

You might say the same about sofa sleepers, but at least they offer the promise of inviting seating space once you tuck away the inner mattress. Advancements in sofa sleeper mattresses (some now with memory foam instead of innerspring) make them a sound choice for many a home office/guest room.

Add Fruits To Your Decor!

by Towne Home Furnishings

Sometimes we have a lack of ideas on how to eat healthy. Then, we feel guilty because we know that it is important to eat well. If you are looking for inspiration to win this battle, here are some tips and ideas for you:

1- Bet on color
Buy fruits that have an attractive look; strawberries, red or green apples, oranges, watermelon, etc. The vivid colors will catch your attention and stimulate your appetite just because they seem more delicious than neutral ones.

It is known; there are more chances to eat fruit if we have them right under our noses; one of the reasons for that phenomenon is the point we raised just above. We usually put fruit in a drawer in the refrigerator and when we are hungry, we take a quick look in the fridge to find something attractive for our stomach. Many times, we peek inside the refrigerator without actually opening any drawers or moving anything around to see what may be hiding way behind. Having the fruit basket at hand will help to avoid any wasting!

3- Add fruit to your decor
In restaurants, we often see paintings or big close-up pictures of fruit on the wall. This is not just to add color to their decor; this is another way to whet people’s appetite! In addition, it’s quite beautiful in a kitchen and a diningroom.

4- Keep it ready to eat

When you come back from the grocery store with all these delicious fruit, take a few minutes to wash them and get them ready to be eaten (cut them into pieces if need to be); sometimes we are too lazy to take the time to wash or cut fruit just before eating them. Now, there are no more excuses, they’ll be ready!

Brighten It Up With Color!

Colors have the power to influence a room’s atmosphere.  They should be your ever-present ally when trying to lighten, make a room look bigger, or simply giving a unique touch to your home. Discover how to use colors to your satisfaction!

No more dark and dull (I would use dull – most people won’t know that word) tones. With summer’s arrival, it’s time to brighten up your interior with a touch of fresh and dynamic color.
From the living room to restrooms, including the bedroom, transform your walls with green, yellow or blue… colors that will always give you a hint of summer.

Change any room:

Energize your living room with a blue-colored wall.
It will bring an exotic touch. In addition, your accent decorations will be highlighted.

Separate the living room from the kitchen.
Use an open red partition with circled gaps: Its bright red color will give a clean touch.  Using wall art will enhance this look and serve as a finishing touch.

A navy-blue ambiance for the best comfort!
Favor a holiday oceanfront atmosphere by incorporating a Mediterranean blue color. Always enhance your room color with accent pillows to bring balance to your bedroom decor.

Beveled glass color: A zen bathroom
Beveled glass gives a relaxing feeling thanks to its enveloping and fresh sensation feel. Favor a white bath and hardwood flooring to bring harmony to your décor.

Remember that a pleasant-colored style promotes vivid colors, circle shapes and several patterns. So let your imagination run wild and let the colors do the talking!

Keep this short summary in mind:
  1. Personality: unusual, colored, energetic, creative, seventies, original, optimist, lighten.
  2. Main colors: vivid red, purple red, orange, yellow, lighten blue, green.
  3. Materials: PVC, wood, plastic, textiles.
  4. Furniture and accessories: adjustable storages, paintings, pictures, high stools, carpets, poufs.
  5. Decoration elements: Painted walls in vivid colors, lighting tiles, tiling, vivid colored paintings.

Balance Your Home Decor With Vases!

Sometimes we look at a room in the house and we think: “something is missing here! There are too many blank spaces.” A good way to resolve this feeling is to add some accent décorvases can do a great job! Here are some tips on how to match vases to your homedécor:

For a big space, like in a corner of the living room, using a single big vase is trendy. Add some faux flowers and/or long branches to personalize it!

If you have many medium or small vases and they have a similar look, they will make a bigger impact and seem more important if you keep them in the same area.

For a vintage look, add off-white or beige vases.

To add some punch to a room, colorful ones will do the trick!

POUFS : Useful for indoor and outdoor decoration!

In the summer or all year long, you can use poufs as seats in your living room or bedroom; it will bring a modern touch to your interior!

This accent furniture is a loyal friend; not only does it fit everywhere, it also has the best comfort. Between the armchair and the seat, the pouf is the compromise to get a perfect, adequate and relaxing position!

More than a pretty name, poufs are making headlines in the world of design and with plenty of good reason. For example, poufs are wonderfully versatile and easy to implement at home.

Used singly or in combination, poufs are stylish; a fun way to add pattern and texture to a room. Since they’re soft and portable, you don’t have to worry about moving them around and scratching the floor.

4 tips to integrate poufs to your indoor space:
-          In front of a sofa or accent chairs: to keep your foot elevated while watching TV.
-          At the bed’s foot: perfect to dress up the room and enhance your cocoon’s décor.
-          In the home office: Keeping a pouf near your desk is making work and reading materials easier to access.
-          In the nursery: to elevate your feet while you’re relaxing in a chair and cradling the baby.

Now, would you like to bring a touch of freshness to your outdoor space? What would you say about integrating some comfortable poufs which would be the perfect decoration?

The main strong point of a pouf is the convenience, in other words it can be easily carried indoor or outdoor of your home. As soon as good weather’s arrival, you can take advantage of your poufs to sit comfortably and relax in the shade on your patio with a small fruit cocktail in your hand, while tanning at the water’s edge.
